I work with the commercial fishing industry, elected officials, researchers, and the coastal community at large on a variety of marine and coastal issues. I’m an experienced educator, skilled at outreach, engagement, conflict resolution, and meeting facilitation.
Kaety grew up in Newport Oregon in a commercial fishing family, she has a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources from Oregon State University and a Master’s degree in Coastal Zone Management from Nova Southeastern University. She’s been with the Oregon Sea Grant extension program as a marine fisheries extension agent since 2005 and also serves at the County Leader for the Lincoln County Extension Office.
I’m a big seafood snob. Growing up in the fishing industry and working with fishermen now allows me access to high quality seafood. I have a freezer full of it. I only eat shrimp if its “Jeff’s shrimp”, or “Joe’s albacore”. I’m the worst person to take out to dinner at a seafood restaurant.
