Many students in the Fisheries and Wildlife Department participate in the OSU Fish and Wildlife Club, a student chapter of both American Fisheries Society and The Wildlife Society. There are many professional societies all over the nation and the world that are dedicated to the advancement of fisheries and wildlife science, conservation biology, and ecology. Joining professional societies is a great way to meet fellow professionals and students, learn more about current research and important issues, and take part in activities that go beyond the classroom. These are just a few of the many professional societies related to fish and wildlife.
The Wildlife Society http://www.wildlife.org
For wildlife professionals and students with an emphasis on wildlife topics, The Wildlife Society provides opportunities to network with peers and professionals who share interests, gain experience and skills outside of the classroom, and learn about current issues facing wildlife management and conservation. Read this letter from Michael Hutchins, Executive Director and CEO of The Wildlife Society, on what it means to be a part of a TWS student chapter.
