The mission of the Oregon Chapter of The Wildlife Society is to "Promote wise conservation and management of wildlife resources in Oregon by serving and representing wildlife professionals."

Our Strategic Plan includes these goals and objectives:

Develop and maintain a program that facilitates professional development of natural resources professionals

  • Coordinate and develop training programs for resource professionals
  • Promote adherence to professional standards and ethics

Promote stewardship of wildlife and their habitats through the use of sound ecological information

  • Assume a leadership role in advocating policy, administrative rules, or laws that affect the conservation and stewardship of wildlife in Oregon
  • Encourage members to take action on matters affecting wildlife resources
  • Support publication and distribution of sound ecological information related to wildlife in Oregon

Increase public awareness and appreciation of wildlife

  • Seek opportunities for the Chapter to provide information on wildlife science, management, and policy to the public, and to recognize groups and individuals for acting on behalf of the resource
  • Promote and assist in wildlife education programs in schools and communities

Develop an active and diverse membership and maintain an organization that provides excellence in member services

  • Actively promote membership within the Chapter
  • Explore opportunities for alternative membership categories
  • Develop a financial plan that allows accomplishment of Chapter Goals
Explore alternative staff and leadership structures for the Chapter
  • Provide periodic review of Chapter Goals and effectiveness for meeting Goals
