Group Tours

Visiting the Collections

We host collection tours and demonstrations for schools and groups who are interested in natural history and zoology. The design of the tours is flexible and can be adjusted to the interest and the size of your group.

For smaller groups of up to six visitors we usually tour the collections. These tours provide an impression of the day to day work in the collection and illustrate the use and importance of natural history collections. We also demonstrate some specimen highlights, such as deep-sea fishes, sharks, tropical and local birds and mammals. For larger groups, such a class visits, we usually set up specimen demonstrations in one of our spacious teaching labs, as the collection space itself is not set up to handle crowds.

For tour requests please contact peter.konstantinidis@oregonstate.edu at least one month in advance of the desired date, and include a brief description of your group size and specific interests. We typically offer tours or demonstrations during normal working hours (Monday to Friday, 9 to 5). Evening and weekend events are sometimes possible but depend on curator availability after hours.
