I am a vertebrate ecologist who uses quantitative tools to support informed decision making for natural resource management. I believe the future status of vertebrate populations is dependent upon our ability to predict system dynamics. Given resource management decisions are typically recurrent and our understanding of system dynamics is often clouded by uncertainty, I strive to integrate monitoring, modeling, and management to reduce uncertainties associated with system dynamics following the implementation of management actions and, by extension, improve management decision making over space and time. This work involves the development, evaluation, and application of sampling designs and estimation methods to study population dynamics and interactions among species, the development and evaluation of simulation models that aim to examine tradeoffs among management objectives and potential management actions, and continued collaboration with interdisciplinary teams of researchers and managers.
